This is a book on state variable modeling, analysis and control of modern control systems. The analysis approach to many control problems from real system consists of three major steps: (1) develop an ideal mathematical modeling which could represent real physical system, (2) apply mathematical analysis and design techniques to the given model, and (3) interpret the mathematical results in terms of implications on the physical system. If the resulting implications are not acceptable or do not seem to match reality or experimental observations, one or more steps given above need to be revised repeated till accepted. This book attempts to illustrate these steps and some control tools that may be involved. While these steps are mathematical, this is intended as an engineering textbook for our intended readers. In this book, no abstract theorems or proofs are included just to improve the mathematical elegance and possible application.
