It is very heartening to share with our readers that the earlier part 1 of the SP’z series “The New Insights on Urology and Urological Research” is well accepted.
We know that for evolution change is the only constant, and is imperative. For urologists, change is seen at almost all levels.
Urogynaecology is one of the specialties that connect the urologists and the gynecologists. The field of urogynaecology, though, had many recent advances, looks still in its infancy. Many questions remain unanswered. This ‘Part 2’ of the SP’z series will enable the readers to learn evidence-based urogynaecology and few topics related to obstetrics that a practicing urologist should know. The contents of this book will be relevant for the students and practicing consultants in the speciality of urology, gynaecology and the general practitioners.
Whilst the upper renal tract remains the sole property of the urologist, gynaecologists, in addition to urologists have traditionally been involved in the assessment and treatment of female lower urinary tract symptoms. The reasons are many - childbirth is the main aetiological factor, and women often present with a combination of menstrual, genital, urinary and colorectal symptoms that requires a holistic approach. It is for this reason that the subspecialty of urogynaecology is rising. Clinicians who treat women with these symptoms require a thorough understanding of the assessment and treatment of bladder filling and storage disorders, pelvic organ prolapse and colorectal disorders, and need to work closely with allied professions. This book will guide the interested clinician who wishes to review this particular subject comprehensively.
There may be significant amount of overlap and difference of opinion for the discussed topics. But the authors think that this will stimulate the readers to further read and research the topic and formulate their own opinion.
I hope this book will be a valuable pocket-sized aid for the readers and is available at an affordable price.
I hope and firmly affirm that this book will contribute a better understanding and management of various urogynaecological and a few obstetrics topics for the clinicians.
I dedicate this book to the hard work and a firm belief of my family in me.
