The profound knowledge of the Intricate details of the cervical spine, particularly the C1 and C2 vertebrae, is essential. This book presents a detailed analysis of the morphometry and morphological variations of the atlas and axis vertebrae in the Indian population. We studied fifty dry human atlases and axis vertebrae each, focusing on the osteometric measurements and morphological differences. The study also highlights the asymmetries between the left and right sides of these vertebrae. The results may be attributed to the demographic and racial variations when compared with the previous research.
We hope that the findings of this study will offer the refined anatomical references to the neurosurgeons, orthopaedic surgeons, and radiologists, aiding for more accurate diagnosis as well as clinical and surgical planning. Furthermore, this study aims to serve as a foundational resource for future anatomical and anthropological research.
