It is my privilege and honour to have had an oppurtunity to bring out a manual on Basic Concepts of Ceramics in Dentistry .During first and second year of BDS course ,the students have dental material subject incorporated in their BDS curriculum.Ceramics is an important chapter which is introduced in syllabus of Dental Material subject.Learning Manual on Basic Concepts in Dentistry unveils the fundamentals of ceramics especially metal ceramics in dentistry.Both undergraduate and post graduate students in dentistry can make use of this book as manual for laboratory session and as well as for exams.We are hopeful and confident that the students will be able to understand the basic fundamental concepts behind ceramic restorations.This book contain four chapters .Chapter one describes about evolution and types of ceramics.Chapter two describes about various phases and types of porcelain.Chapter 3 describes about bonding of metal ceramic restorations.Chapter four describes about laboratory layering techniques in ceramics.
