The role of business soft skills is similar to the role of blood vessels in human body. For the human body to function properly the blood should be transmitted from one part of the body to another via blood vessels. Once the blood failed to reach the parts of the body, the person is likely to suffer serious health constraints including blood pressure, fainting and dizziness. When the blood failed to reach the key organs such as heart, the person is likely to loose life. This blood vessel role analogy is similar to business soft skills role, because any deficiency of it have devastating impact on business performance or overall business growth.

Business soft skills play a greater role of supporting the functions of business in all stages of establishment and growth. The skills greatly support business ideation development, business plan development, business formalization, business set up, business management, business operations, business monitoring and evaluation. For example, idea development require multiple soft skills such as creative thinking, observation, baseline analysis, business plan development and report writing. Likewise business formalization requires documents preparation and negotiation skills. Other skills include business team management skills, time management skills, effective communication skills, client service skills, technical skills and monitoring skills.

This book covers over fifty percent of the required business or enterprise development skills. In this book, the term business go beyond trading (that is the activity of buying and selling products for profit generation) to any formal or professional work including public or private service organizations. These organizations do employ personnel which sometime need these skills in order to increase productivity, job excellence and performance. The book is also useful to individuals’ professional development who aspires to establish businesses or service organization. The book seek to address the existing business or enterprise soft skills gap and intend to meet the respective and desired business competencies.
