In an academic world that is constantly evolving, the journey of knowledge often leads us beyond the walls of traditional disciplines. "Current Status and Future Prospects of Interdisciplinary Literature Reading Among University Educators and Students" explores the profound impact of interdisciplinary reading practices within higher education. This book is the fruit of over a decade of passionate research and rich experiences from the vibrant Nanjing Normal University Library.
The past ten years have seen dramatic shifts in educational paradigms, profound societal transformations, and the unprecedented challenges brought forth by the COVID-19 pandemic. These dynamics have reshaped our understanding of interdisciplinary literature, revealing its crucial role in nurturing critical thinking, creativity, and collaborative spirit among educators and students.
Throughout the chapters of this work, I will provide insights from the analysis of library circulation records spanning from 2014 to 2023, integrated with findings from five insightful research studies. We will navigate the landscape of interdisciplinary literature reading, examining its current status, celebrating its successes, and identifying the remaining challenges. Furthermore, we shall gaze into the future, envisioning the possibilities that interdisciplinary practices hold for enriching academic discourse and enhancing library services tailored to the diverse needs of our educational communities.
This book is more than a mere collection of findings; it is an invitation to dialogue about the transformative power of interdisciplinary literature. As we connect the dots across various fields of study, we open ourselves to a tapestry of perspectives that can inspire innovative educational approaches.
I hope this work ignites curiosity among researchers and educators and is a valuable resource that fosters necessary discussions on interdisciplinary literature's role in shaping future generations' aspirations. Together, let us embrace the wealth of knowledge from interdisciplinary exploration and cultivate a more interconnected, dynamic, and innovative educational landscape.
