Abstract

Activated carbon could be synthesized by using various precursors, in different conditions. The raw material, carbonized sample and the obtained activated carbon were characterized by using different tools. Textural behavior, proximate analysis, porosity structure and surface chemistry were reported. The adsorption studies were carried out through different models such as Langmuir model and Freundlich isotherm. While pseudo second order model and pseudo first order isotherm were used to investigate the adsorption kinetic. The highest correlation coefficient was selected to represent the adsorption kinetic data. Thermodynamic studies were conducted. The negative sign of the free energy represented spontaneous process. Endothermic (\(\Delta\)H>0) and exothermic reaction (\(\Delta\)H<0) could be determined from the enthalpy value.
