To analyse omeprazole in capsules, two simple spectrophotometric methods have been developed. As a solvent in this method, sodium hydroxide 0.1 N is used. The absorbance method was used at 304.80 nm, and the under-curve area method was used at wavelengths ranging from 281.60 nm to 333.60 nm. Both methods were found to be linear over a concentration range of 10 g / mL - 18 g / mL. The correlation coefficient for the absorbance method is 0.9998, while the correlation coefficient for the area-under-curve method is 0.997. The absorbance method yielded 105.48% of generic omeprazole capsules, while the field under the curve method yielded 102.87%.
The absorbance approach gives a percentage of omeprazole capsules of the trademark of 104.02%, while the field under the curve method yielded a percentage of 103.62%. The percentage of both samples that meet the criteria of Pharmacopoeia Indonesia version V, which is 90% to 110%, is 90% to 110%.
For both approaches, the relative standard deviation is 2%. The absorbance approach and the region under the curve did not vary substantially (sig. 2-tailed> 0.05), according to statistical analysis.
As a result, the absorbance method and UV-Vis spectrophotometry's region under the curve can be used to determine omeprazole levels in the formulation capsule.
