Abstract

Type II Diabetes is a metabolic disease that influences the inflammatory pathways and subsequent pathways that underlie carcinogenesis. Hence, there is literature evidence that showcases higher incidence of malignancies among Diabetics. Although, there are contradictory findings against associations between diabetes mellitus and oral carcinogenesis. This review deals with underlying pathophysiology, mechanisms of carcinogenesis, common pathways between carcinogenesis and type II diabetes mellitus.
