Abstract

Aluminum and its alloys have been widely used in various fields including household appliances, weapons, pressure vessels, boats, aircraft flaps, marine, two-wheeled vehicles, automotive, and aircraft engine spare parts. This study discusses aluminum and its alloys, the numbering system, the effect of alloying elements on the cast, Al-Cu alloys, and the mechanism for increasing strength. The strength of aluminum alloys can be increased by improving their physical and mechanical properties through several treatments, which include solid-solution hardening, grain size strengthening, work or strain hardening, and precipitation hardening.
