Abstract

To convince young voters to vote for candidates in the election, their knowledge of candidates needs to be built. As a result, the content of the media, which is the foundation of media effects, must be explored. Researchers employ social media content analysis to determine the signals expressed by the winning candidate. Social media material was evaluated using three coding categories: information, engagement, and online participation. The findings in this study are that candidates who become winners in the election are those who can use social media effectively and efficiently to educate and involve young voters in the election. Voters can be given information on the candidates, campaigns, and voting process to help increase their understanding and keep them remembered.  Therefore, from this study, it can be concluded that social media can encourage young voters to participate in the elections because it makes them more aware of the political issues conveyed.
