The Impact of Father's Involvement on Children's Social Development

Father’s involvement plays an irreplaceable role in children's physical and mental development, which has increasingly attracted academic attention. On the basis of reviewing previous literature, this article explores the impact of father's involvement on children's social development. The focus was the role of father's involvement in children's prosocial behavior, gender orientation, self-concept, marriage views, social belonging, and social interaction development. It analyzed mechanism of various aspects such as the degree of father's involvement, father's position in children's minds, father's educational concepts and methods, and discusses the problems in previous research and development directions, in order to provide reference opinions for promoting father’s involvement.
