The notion of complex numbers is intimately related to the Fundamental Theorem of Algebra and is at the very foundation of mathematical analysis. There are very sound reasons to want to develop a full understanding of complex algebra. However, the task has been far from being straightforward. Nevertheless, there has been some (albeit arguably slow) progress, for example in the study of transcendence of complex numbers. This chapter introduces the concepts of strong and weak transcendental numbers.
