Abstract

When the library services closed due to COVID-19 last March 2020, library staff explored innovative and creative ways to assist its library clientele, even working from home. One of these initiatives is the eNewsclips digital library of the University of the Philippines College of Engineering Library. This initiative uses open-source software and is easy to install, which can help far-flung libraries that are just starting to digitize their collections through an interview via Zoom with the head librarian of the College of Engineering library. This paper discussed objectives, resources, challenges, and strategies for the application and implementation of digitization in the UP College of Engineering Libraries. It also cited best practices that enabled the library to optimize efficiency and deliver quality service to its library users, such as automation, innovation, accessibility, IT support, infrastructure, and connectivity.
