Abstract

Introduction: Peritoneo vaginal canal pathologies are congenital conditions due to the persistence of the peritoneo vaginal canal after birth. This duct is an emanation of the peritoneal cavity. The failure of closure of this duct is the cause of four anatomical/clinical entities: hernia, communicating hydrocele (CH), non-communicating hydrocele (NCH) and spermatic cord cyst (SCH), also known as funicular hydrocele. Treatment is surgical.

Observation: We present a type of peritoneo vaginal canal pathology in a 10-year-old subject. The diagnosis based on anamnestic and clinical grounds but diagnosis of this type of peritoneo-vaginal canal was made in the operating room. The immediate postoperative course was simple. Peritoneal histology was confirmed in both specimens.

Conclusion: This case enables us learn of the existence of this rare anatomical-clinical entity, which requires a meticulous dissection of the peritoneo vaginal canal during surgery.
