Abstract

Stress caused by salinity reduces plant growth and yield, and in extreme cases can result in plant death. To solve this issue, salinity-tolerant cultivars are required. The combination of mutation induction and in vitro selection can produce salinity-tolerant varieties. In plant breeding, induction mutation is one of the methods used to increase diversity. The genetic diversity produced by mutation induction is very diverse, so in vitro selection can be used to achieve the desired traits. Selecting in vitro for salinity tolerance using the NaCl selection component. The concentration of NaCl utilized is dependent on the type of plant and explant utilized.
