Abstract

A partnership between a software engineering company and a medical device manufacturer has resulted in the development of an operational medical device solution that helps blood centers and lab operations collect and manage critical data in a highly regulated environment. The operational medical device solution demonstrates what is needed in terms of medical device connectivity but also what is possible with bidirectional communication. The final hardware/software ecosystem consists of the medical device software system connected to multiple devices with different functionality throughout the blood supply chain. The medical device solution is currently used by almost 400 blood centers globally allowing users to track and optimize blood manufacturing operations.
