Abstract

Now-a-days, people are facing various kind of stress in the fast daily life and most of the people in the world are suffering from variousneurological disorder. Epilepsy is one of the most common neurologic disorders of the brain, affecting about 50 million individuals worldwide and 90% of them are from developing countries.  Epilepsy is a group of neurological diseases characterized by epileptic seizures. Epileptic seizures are episodes that can vary from brief and nearly undetectable to long periods of vigorous shaking. In epilepsy, seizures tend to recur, and have no immediate underlying causewhile seizures that occur due to a specific cause are not deemed to represent epilepsy. The cause of most cases of epilepsy is unknown, although some people develop epilepsy as the result of brain injury, stroke, brain tumors, and substance use disorders. The objectiveof the review is to discuss history, epidemiology, etiology, pathophysiology, classification of epilepsy, symtomps, diagnosis, management of pilepsy and its future trends.
