Lipofilling with a Close System in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

Abstract

Lipofilling is a safe and effective procedure with a low incidence of minor complications. It is therefore a feasible method to resolve volume deficiencies and asymmetric results after oncologic breast surgery. Following aspiration, the fatty tissue needs to be processed to remove the fat cells (adipocytes) from the least beneficial byproducts (blood, plasma, remains, broken adipocytes, free oil, etc.), enabling the injection of a pure tissue. The oil, fluid, and blood components spontaneously separate from the fatty tissue thanks to gravity. The close-injection-system avoids fat dehydration, because the fat never is exposed to air. Additionally, the close-system injects the fat with a cannula, which allows us to place a better quality and quantity of fat in the desired area without damage or contamination risk.
