Prof. Pradip K. Bhowmik

He is currently a Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. He came to the United States from Bangladesh in 1983 and obtained his M.S. in Physical/Organic Chemistry in 1987 and Ph.D. in Organic/Polymer Chemistry in 1990 from University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth and University of Massachusetts at Amherst, respectively. He has received several teaching awards including Regents’ Teaching Award (2015), UNLV Foundation Distinguished Teacher Award (2011, 2004), UNLV Alumni Outstanding Faculty Member 2010, and the College of Sciences Distinguished Teacher Award (2012, 2003). He received the 2014 POLY Fellow and 2014 ACS Fellow Award for his outstanding scientific/professional accomplishments and service to the American Chemical Society (ACS). He also received service award twice (2014, 2007) from the Southern Nevada Local Section of ACS for his outstanding service to the society. He has authored/co-authored over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles and over 40 refereed conference papers. Additionally, he is the inventor of five patents and several are pending. He actively participates in various professional organizations related to chemistry including the ACS. He serves as an Academic Editor for 15 journals, as a member on the Editorial Board of 17 journals, as an Advisory Board Member for a half dozen companies located in California, Nevada and Utah.  He has reviewed ca. 550 manuscripts for publication in 88 scholarly journals as well as numerous grant proposals from various public and private funding sources.
