Abstract

Nocardia farcinia endocarditis is an extremely rare phenomenon. It is an opportunistic pathogen that is constantly present in the environment. Nocardia is a soil borne ubiquitous aerobic actinomycete. Here, we describe a rare case of septic embolism with infective endocarditis caused by Nocardia species in a male chronic drinker aged 54. The timely diagnosis was aided by microbiological research and radiological imaging methods. A positive outcome for the patient was achieved with the prompt initiation of treatment based on sensitive data.
