Abstract

Solid solutions of Pb1-xBix (Zr0.52Ti0.48)O3 with x = 0.20 have been successfully made via the solid state reaction method. This article reports the impact of ball milling (both conventional and planetary) on electrocaloric and structural qualities. The solid solutions did indeed crystallise into the tetragonal phase, according to the structural study. When switching from a conventional ball mill to a planetary ball mill, the electrocaloric effect was shown to change from a higher temperature regime to a lower temperature domain, which results in a drop in the remnant polarisation.
