Abstract

Crises are now part of the daily experience; people, organizations, and destinations experience crises. Most times, it happens without our knowledge. However, even if people take note, they emphasize negative spillovers more than positive spillovers/effects. Little do people realize that the crisis they are in today prepares them for the strength they need tomorrow. Unfortunately, there has been little or no research on the positive spillover of crises. Using triangulated data: in-depth interviews and textual data, this study intends to fill a gap in the literature on the positive spillover of crises on individuals, organizations, and destinations. The study is theory-laden, and stage 1 findings revealed three themes: political, technological, and experiential & expectation factors. Stage 2 results supported the stage 1 findings. Most times, survivors of crises end up becoming resilient after an experience. The current study contributes to political, technological, health, marketing, and tourism literature. It discussed managerial implications, as well as limitations and future studies.
