Abstract

Molar conductivities (\(\wedge\))  at three different temperatures have been used to investigate the Molecular interactions of two (ILS) [BMIM][C8SO4] and [MOIM]Cl with amino acids (AA) (AA= L-tyr, L-phe) in aqueous medium. Spectroscopic experiments were carried out to look into the behavior of the ILs and the selected amino acids, as well as the spontaneity of the process. Amino acids are used as model compounds as they are building block of proteins.  The change in electronic states of distinct protons of ILs in the presence of different amino acids was also exposed using 1H NMR spectroscopy. The order of  ([BMIM] [C8SO4] + L-tyr)> ([MOIM]Cl + L-tyr)> ([BMIM][C8SO4]  + L-phe)> ([MOIM]Cl + L-phe) in water has been used to interpret all of the data in light of potential molecular interactions. The experimental parameters acquired will be tremendously useful in understanding the mixing effect and other complex biological processes that occur between amino acids and the chosen ionic liquids. The significant chemical shifts of ILs protons in presence of amino acids in 1HNMR studies also support the results obtained from other spectroscopic and conductance measurements.
