Prof. Telat Yanik

He is a Turkish scientist who works at Atatürk University in Erzurum. In 1988, he earned his bachelor's degree in animal science from Atatürk University. He attended Ohio State University and studied Molecular Genetics before moving to the Natural Resources Faculty for two years, from 1992 to 1994. In 1996, he received his Ph.D. in the field of aquaculture from Ataturk University.

In 1998, he was appointed Associate Professor, and in 2004, he was appointed Professor. He has supervised various MS and PhD theses at Ataturk University.

In 2006, he lectured at Cobleskill University as a visiting professor (SUNY), in Cobleskill, New York, USA. He was elected and appointed as the head of the department of aquaculture at 2008. He worked on bilateral projects with the Belarus National Sciences Research Unit under the authority of TUBITAK. He attended the FAO-NACE summit in Armenia. He was invited to be a resource person for climate change courses at Manonmaniam Sundaranar University and PSG University in India. He was invited as plenary speaker at symposiums at Punjab University in Pakistan and Murmansk University in Russia.

From 2010 to 2016, he worked as vice rector and head of the foreign relations office at Ibrahim Cecen University in Agri province. He was a dean's assistant in the Arts and Sciences and Pharmacy faculties. He served on the executive committees at Ibrahim Cecen University's colleges of engineering and natural sciences, education, and economics and administrative sciences. He was the Mevlana and Erasmus programs' institutional coordinator at that university. He formed collaborations with Azerbaijan and other Turkic Republics, as well as Germany, England, Holland, Portugal, Denmark, Romania, Hungary, Italy, and other European Union member countries. He visited Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Iran, Georgia, and Morocco and participated in a range of academic activities. He contributed both directly and indirectly to the university's many functions, which he shared the duty of with the founding rector. He studied the application of the Project Based Learning (PBL) approach in vocational high schools at Agri Ibrahim Çeçen University as part of a European Union project co-organized by the IC Foundation and Greece, Italy, Romania, and Spain. He also worked in France as part of European Union projects he headed. He is on the editorial boards of several scientific journals. He also has numerous international and national journal publications to his credit. His articles were among the most cited (1-4) in the Turkish Publication of Veterinary Science in 2017.

He is now the Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries at Ataturk University. His native language is Turkish, and he has a good command of English. He is interested in science, statistics, and computers.
