Abstract
The Study aimed to evaluate the influence of different age groups on certain serum micro minerals in female Pandharpuri buffaloes. Hence, study was conducted on 24 Pandharpuri female buffaloes maintained at College farm of KNP College of Veterinary Science, Shirwal and were categorized into different groups according to age Viz. Group I: Buffalo calves (up to 6 months), Group II: Young growing buffalo calves (6 months to 12 months), Group III: Buffalo heifers (12 months to 30 months) and Group IV: Adult Buffalos (above 30 months) comprising 6 (six) animals in each group.. Blood samples were collected and analysed for micro minerals like Copper, Iron and Zinc by using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer and Molybdenum by using Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectroscopy. The values (ppm) in Group I, II, III and IV for Serum Cu are (1.92 ± 0.30, 2.21 ± 0.28, 2.33 ± 0.25 and 2.46 ± 0.31), Serum Fe are (1.19 ± 0.08, 1.14 ± 0.15, 1.81 ± 0.05 and 2.45 a ± 0.15), Serum Zn are (1.20 ± 0.16, 1.15 ± 0.15, 1.43 ± 0.14 and 1.23 ± 0.10) and for serum Mo are (0.50 ± 0.03 0.55 ± 0.04, 0.42 ± 0.02 and 0.46 ± 0.03). The present data reveals that, there was non-significant increasing trend in concentration of serum Cu and significant apparently increasing trend in concentration of serum Fe among different age groups. There was no significant difference in concentration of serum Zn and serum Mo among different age groups without any consistent trend.
