Abstract

The features of a harmonic plane wave in 1D are investigated in this work and applied to a model of an auditorium in the shape of a quarter of an ellipsoid. The hope is to provide insight on the advantages and disadvantages of this shape, which resembles many common auditoria. The main focus of this study will be on transmission loss, reverberation, performer disturbance, and frequency variances. On both a macroscopic auditorium level and a microscopic level of a single spot in the audience, the distinctions between different frequencies will be investigated.
