Abstract

The Mayalibit Strait is located on Waigeo Island. This strait is relatively small and narrow, and is the only strait that connects the Mayalibit bay with the open sea. This strait is a fishing ground for local residents. The aimed of this study is to known the seawater quality in relationship with mariculture of marine organism and tourism area. Seawater samples were taken using a water sampler at 8 stations, which is determined by GPS. Seawater quality analyzed are pH (acidity), dissolved oxygen (DO), phosphate, nitrate, silicate, and contaminant polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAHs). The results showed that the seawater quality still in in lined with the criteria state by seawater quality guideline, exception PAHs were passed that criteria for marine organism life and tourism area.
