Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the factors hindering immigrant women from accessing cervical cancer screening programmes in many developed countries.

This study adopted a critical literature review research design.

A total of 12 research articles from 417 publications that were identified were selected for this study. A critical appraisal skills programme tool was used to critically appraise the selected research articles. Data was analyzed using thematic analysis.

The study revealed that psychological, demographic and behavioural factors prevent immigrant women from accessing cervical cancer screening programmes in developed countries.

This study demonstrates the need to increase awareness of the importance of cervical cancer screening among immigrant women to highlight benefits and demystify misconceptions of this public health intervention.
