Abstract

Benzimidazoles with plethora of biological applications are identified as important motifs for the advance of innovative drug design, thus grabbing the attention of medicinal chemists around the world. Especially, 2-arylbenzimidazoles and its derivatives are playing a vital role in medicinal chemistry with broad range of biological applications. This chapter summarizes the synthesis, characterization of ten 2-arylbenzimidazoles (3a-j) and evaluation of in vitro antioxidant activities using DPPH free radical scavenging assay. All of the chemicals obtained shown strong antioxidant activity.
