Prof. Francisco Cruz Sosa

He is a Professor of the Department of Biotechnology of the Division of Biological and Health Sciences of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana-Iztapalapa, Head of the Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory, is a Member of the National System of Researchers level II of the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT - Mexico). His research focuses on projects that typically involve a concerted multidisciplinary approach to the discovery of bioactive agents from in vitro cultured plants or from wild plants. His lines of research address the production of secondary metabolites as bioactive compounds from plants and plant cell cultures. In addition, he participates in the design of micro and nanoencapsulation systems for the protection of secondary metabolites as bioactive compounds.
