Abstract

The monograph presents various aspects of such an insufficiently studied pathology as neuroleptic cardiomyopathy caused by the side cardiotoxic effect of antipsychotic drugs.

The epidemiology, clinic, pathomorphology, pathogenesis, diagnostic criteria of the disease are considered, its nosological independence is justified, myocardial hibernation in this pathology and morphological changes of the heart in the comorbid course of various cardiomyopathies are described for the first time.

Morphological studies were carried out using the original author's method of organometry of the heart and the algorithm of morphometric study of the myocardium. Various statistical methods were used in the final evaluation of the results obtained.

The publication is richly illustrated with numerous tables and drawings. The list of cited literature contains more than 700 sources.

The book is intended for researchers and practitioners dealing with general therapy, cardiology, psychiatry, as well as specialists using antipsychotic drugs in their practice, teachers and students of medical educational institutions.
