Abstract

Sustainable chemistry aims to decrease or replacement of harmful chemicals that cause irreversible injury to the ecosystem. The natural uncleanness and pollution created by the chemical industries have extended in large amounts during the last few decades. The need to produce eco-friendly materials and less harmful substances has been improved among scientists in laboratories and industries. Ionic liquids (ILs) are a promising source for sustainable chemistry innovation. Ionic liquids are environment friendly due to their non-volatile nature so they have been successfully used in organic synthesis, extraction of compounds, dissolution of chemicals, etc. In this chapter, we are discussing various applications of ILs as innovation for a sustainable future in Chemistry.
