Abstract

Microwave devices play an essential role in the last century. A lot of applications are also developed in this frequency. Developments of microwave tubes support various growths in the recent past. Microwave tubes can be further classified as slow-wave and fast-wave devices based on RF field phase velocity. For the millimeter and sub-millimeter wave application, a high power source and amplifier are required, which is achieved by developing fast-wave devices. In fast wave tube interaction of the electron with RF wave is different than slow-wave devices, which is discussed further. A brief history along with the type of fast-wave tubes with their Dispersion relation is also presented.
