Abstract

Pyogenic granuloma is a type of inflammatory hyperplastic lesion that appears in the mouth. It is most typically found in the gingiva. The study's goals were to determine the percent of gingival pyogenic granuloma in the population of Sulaimani city -Iraq in relation to gender, age, pregnancy, systemic diseases, oral hygiene and site of occurrence of pyogenic granuloma. Materials and

Methods: The complete stratified sample [1136 (568 male + 568 female)] as well as the randomly selected sample [248 (124 male and 124 female their age range from 10 to 70 year)] were used in this investigation. Oral examination was performed to check for gingival pyogenic granuloma and determine oral hygiene. The percentage of the overall sample that had gingival pyogenic granuloma was 11.3 percent. The majority of gingival pyogenic granuloma patients were women in their second decade. Buccal gingiva in the upper jaw had a significant percentage of gingival pyogenic granuloma. Gingival pyogenic granuloma and its history were revealed to have a highly significant association. There was a correlation between gingival pyogenic granuloma, oral hygiene, and systemic condition. However, there were no significant correlations between gingival pyogenic granuloma and (type of systemic disease, age groups, number of children, complications of pregnancy, marital status and pregnancy trimester).
