The cyclic voltametry provides electrochemical informations such as redox potential, diffusion coefficients, chemical kinetics and the nature of storage techniques in energy storage materials of an analyte by the measurement of current as a function of voltage. The voltammogram gives informations about cyclic stability, intercalation and deintercalation co-efficients, reversibility of a reaction, faradaic/nonfaradaic charge transfer mechanisms and surface or diffusion controlled mechanisms etc. The chapter gives fundamental ideas of cyclic voltametry techniques and the principles of cyclic voltametry. The chapter also illustrates both the qualitative and quantitative evaluation of cyclic voltammograms with essential theoretical and experimental supports.
