Abstract

A compact frequency reconfigurable antenna which can switch between dual and triple bands for Wi-Fi (3.6 GHz, 5 GHz, and 5.9 GHz), ITU-band (7.725 GHz– 8.5 GHz) and X-band (8-12.5GHz. The Antenna consists of a modified circular ring shaped radiator with microstrip line feeding. The ground plane consists of a coplanar waveguide. Two PIN diodes are arranged in the ground plane for achieving the required frequency reconfigurability. The antenna has dimensions of 35 mm x 30 mm x 1.6 mm. The antenna is simulated using HFSS. As the antenna is of very compact size, it can be preferred for portable applications.
