Abstract

The origins of arteriosclerosis and, as a result, coronary heart disease, are discussed. It appears absurd to describe the causation of arteriosclerosis solely on the molecular level based on morphological considerations. Cholesterol is a structurally significant component of the human body. The human body regulates it. Long-term statin therapy observations reveal side effects, necessitating a rethinking of this treatment option. A chronic ischemia condition of the arterial artery wall is the cause of arteriosclerosis. Long-term external disturbances such as high blood pressure can lead to insufficient flow and thus successively cause metabolic changes.
