Dr. Angelo Mark P Walag (Professor I)

He is presently working as a Full Professor at Department of Science Education, University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines, teaching various biology, chemistry, and research courses at the undergraduate, masters and doctorate levels. He is also served as the Chair of the USTP Research Ethics Review Committee and the Graduate Program Coordinator of the USTP System. He completed his PhD in Science Education major in Chemistry and minor in Biology from the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines and working on bioactive compounds extracted from sea stars collected in the country. He continued his work on sea stars through a post-doctoral fellowship at the Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India in 2020. He serves as an Editor-in-Chief, Editorial Board Member, and Peer Reviewer in various national and international peer-reviewed and indexed journals in education, biology, and chemistry. He is a productive researcher with 37 journal publications, 2 edited books, 10 book chapters and 2 copyrights.

Instructional materials and more than 400 citations under his name. He also presented more than 25 papers at different national and international conferences.

Dr. Walag is a Regular Member of the National Research Council of the Philippines, an attached agency of the Department of Science and Technology. His field of specialization is in natural products chemistry, science education, game-based learning, and educational gamification.
