Abstract

Research Purpose: conservation of domestic elephants in the Central Highlands that are about to become extinct. Research methods: Field investigation, through interviews, field observations with a large number of samples (n>30), the number of repetitions of the survey sample (>3).

Research Results: 1 - Domestic elephants make a significant contribution to economic development, life, spirituality and mainly contribute to the conservation and development of eco-tourism.; 2- Causes of severe decline that can lead to the extinction of domestic elephants: the ability to secure a place for Elephants: very lacking; the ability to provide nutrients to Elephants: very inadequate; 3 - The fertility of Elephants is complicated because it takes only; 4 - years to give birth to a baby, male elephants are very few, and the opportunity to copulate is not much. Male elephants are scarce (The salary is too small), and marble elephants serve tourists regardless of the day and night. On the other side, the form and technique of raising Elephants of the people are too old and very inappropriate. Adding the situation of illegal hunting is still going on secretly. 4- Elephant tourism only pays attention to the profit side but exploits it to the point of exhaustion. More than that, the state banned hunting wild elephants, then trained them to become domestic elephants. Therefore, the existing herd of elephants is too old to replace young elephants. 5-The possibility of "extinction" of domestic elephants is huge,  forecast that about 20 years later, if not supplemented and corrected, the domestic elephant herd will become extinct.
