Adipocytokines are adipose tissue derived biologically active proteins. These are fat hormones that play crucial role in reproductive biology. The balanced concentration of the adipocytokines regulates complex intricate pathways that link insulin resistance and reproductive process. Adiponectin, an adipocyte derived adipocytokine is considered as the new regulator of female reproductive system. Its discovery had led to the vast details of biological function of Adiponectin that augments insulin sensitivity, stepped to the evolving function on inflammation and human reproduction. An intertwined interaction of the adipocytokines ensues right from puberty to pregnancy, with more impact on ovulatory process.
