Abstract
This article discusses digital ampelography, a new branch of ampelography, focusing on the genetic encoding and encryption of inheritance traits in grape varieties. The study highlights the names of over 400 grape varieties cultivated in Azerbaijan and provides examples of digital encoding and encryption for raisin variety traits using ampelo-descriptors. The digital ampelographic method allows the concise expression of genetic inheritance traits through appropriate codes. This system facilitates the representation of grape varieties on an international platform by creating unified, concise ampelo-descriptor codes, thereby addressing the problem of language barriers in ampelography. Additionally, it lays the groundwork for the development of electronic catalogs in the field. As a result, this method enhances the potential for more effective cross-border introduction and utilization of grape varieties.
The study concludes that digital ampelography enables the creation of highly concise ampelo-descriptor descriptions that specify the country and region of origin for the grape varieties. Encoding the genetic characteristics of grape varieties in this way eliminates language barriers in ampelography on a global scale. Translating these codes into languages such as English and Russian provides access to valuable scientific information about the ampelo-descriptor properties of all grape varieties.
