Abstract
This chapter introduced analysis of gain and noise figure of Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) based on double pass with Wave Selective Coupler (WSC). The use of fiber optic components in communication systems is increasing as it has several features including wide bandwidth, high capacity, and fast transmission. Multiple laser source (MLS) was used to generate the signal light into the fiber. Optical Circulator (OC1) was used to redirect the reflected optical signal from (OC2) to the output. Pump laser was used to the ions excitation in erbium doped fiber for power amplification. Double pass EDFA with wave selective coupler (WSC) in L band was the initial set up. The benefit of choosing this method is to reduce the self-saturation effect of ASE. Also show the effect on input and output signal power in L-band Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifiers with pump power using forward pumping. Also analyzed were the high-yield behavior and characterization details of the new double-pass EDFA with WSC. We also show the effects of pump power on gain and noise figure with input and output signal power in L- band at 1590 nm. Main contribution in this study is to eliminate the residual pump power out of the signal and attain optimal result in L- band were used.
