Lymphatic System and Tuberculosis Affection

Abstract

The lymphatic system is part of the immune system, and complementary to the circulatory system. Lymph nodes are among the most common sites of extra pulmonary tuberculosis. Lymph nodes being sites of initiation of adaptive immune system, also serve as niches of Mycobacterium Tuberculous growth and persistence. Superficial Tuberculous lymphadenopathy may present as isolated tuberculous infection or may represent underlying important organ involvement in vicinity or even disseminated Koch’s. Diagnosis of superficial Tuberculous lymphadenopathy recommends thorough investigations considering strong role of lymphatic system in systemic illness.
