Abstract
Globally, infectious diseases have been a threat to people's health. The use of newly discovered antiviral and antibiotic agents has allowed us to successfully treat the majority of diseases due to our unrelenting efforts and research. Unfortunately, the ability of microorganisms to adapt and mutate over time leads to antibiotic and antiviral resistance. There are many difficulties in treating infections, such as the microorganisms' inability to react to the therapeutic agents, which has increased the risk of complications, chronic infections, and preventable fatalities. As a result, a multidisciplinary approach and collaboration are required to develop more potent, effective, and versatile therapies to prevent and eradicate both old and new diseases. Natural medicine has recently demonstrated its effectiveness in treating a variety of illnesses. The majority of pharmaceutical agents currently in use can be traced back to natural products in some way, shape, or form. Because many natural resources have yet to be explored and analyzed, the full potential of natural products has yet to be realized. This calls for ongoing support for research and analysis of ancient treatment systems in order to fully exploit their potential and use them as an alternative or primary therapy.
