Abstract

Nanomedicine is the term for the use of nanotechnology in medicine. Nanotechnology is the manipulation of matter at the nanoscale scale. The most prominent contribution of nanotechnology to dentistry is the use of nanocomposites to restore tooth structure. In terms of smoothness, polishability, precision of shade characterisation, flexural strength, and micro hardness, these materials can provide advantages in terms of aesthetics and strength compared to traditional microfilled and hybrid resin-based composite systems. Working on such a tiny scale gives us the ability to imagine the restoration of a tooth at a level that is closer to the specific anatomical elements. Dental restoration system designs that closely resemble the method by which dentistry enamel is formed are now being explored in laboratory dental research.
