Abstract

Angioleiomyoma (AL) is a rare benign tumour of uterus. In AL, blood vessel formation is induced by increased shear stress and is hypoxia independent. Angioleiomyomas form in the process of angiogenesis when vascular walls thicken due to the proliferation of smooth muscle cells. The preferred treatment is hysterectomy, and if the patient wishes to preserve fertility, angiomyomectomy should be performed.
