Abstract

The present study highlights about mechanism of glassy-state polymers plasticization. Using cellulose acetate plastics as an example, structural and relaxation features of plasticization are examined. We look at three different kinds of plasticization: the plasticizer is miscible with the polymer at both processing and operating temperatures; it is also immiscible at operating temperatures; and finally, it is immiscible at operating temperatures but does not form a distinct phase during molding. Plasticized material properties are determined not only by the manner of plasticizer effect on the material structure formation, but also by the extent of its influence on the relaxation rate at the test temperature.
