Abstract

To attain good and affordable healthcare for all people has been a top priority for governments and organizations worldwide for a long time. Especially, in the healthcare domain. Artificial Intelligence (AI) shows possibilities in the medical field to identify illnesses, assist doctors, discover drugs, laboratory medicine, etc. This technology can assist clinicians in the prevention of illness, the provision of appropriate medical solutions, and the prediction of illness outcomes. AI can improve clinicians' decision-making ability in neuroscience applications. Due to the growing demand for health facilities, the area of laboratory medicine is also under pressure to enhance turnover while maintaining accuracy and precision with the use of automation. It has become a challenging situation for the clinical laboratory. AI plays an important part in complicated algorithms and the storage of immense quantities of data obtained from medical and laboratory settings. The use of AI in laboratory medicine is expanding due to the awareness of its potential to improve detection, laboratory processes, decision support, reduce costs, and boost efficiency. This chapter provides an overview of the uses of AI in the healthcare domain, especially in laboratory medicine, learning about the use of AI, its shortcomings, and the way it is implemented. However, major issues still need to be addressed for better practical use of AI in this field.
