Abstract

In machining of engineering materials, a wire electrical discharge machining process is having capability to cut the materials which are tough in characteristics. In findings the best machining parameters combination, a Taguchi coupled grey relational analysis (TGRA) method is a proven method. In this study, three Wire electrical discharge machining process parameters and output performance characteristics such as surface roughness and material removal rate are taken into consideration. The experimental procedure was followed as per orthogonal array design concept. The optimum parameters were found as pulse on time of 110 msec, pulse off time of 60 msec and input current of 10 amps obtained the machining process performance characteristics. The result indicates with increase in pulse on time increases the in the energy, therefore increases cutting rate led to improve in the materials removal rate. From the statistical analysis, pulse on time was recognized as predominating process parameter contributing 93.87% followed by input current as 3.96% and pulse off time as 0.18%.
